FAQs
The questions we get asked most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask us and we will add it.
Samples and ordering
Can I get a sample before I order?
Yes.
How much extra should I order for cuts and waste?
Order 15 percent more than the room measures. That covers cuts, breakages and the odd bad piece, and it keeps you on the safe side. Keep the offcuts, because they are the easiest repair you will ever have.
Will the floor match a batch I bought before?
Tile and stone are made in batches and shades drift between them, so we cannot promise a match. Tell us the range and we will check what batch is on the rack before you order.
Do you hold stock for a job that starts later?
We can hold material for a booked job and release it in phases. Ask when you order so we put it aside properly rather than letting it sell.
Delivery
How long does delivery take?
Allow 7 to 10 working days. Anything coming in from the mill or the quarry takes longer, and we give you that date in writing before you pay.
Where will the delivery be left?
Pallets come on a tail lift and are left at the kerb or the first hard standing. If the driver needs to get through a gate or up a drive, tell us when you order.
What if a box arrives damaged?
Check the pallet before you sign and note any damage on the paperwork. Then send us photos the same day and we will replace what is broken.
Fitting
Do you fit the floor yourselves?
We work with local fitters rather than employing them. We introduce you, and we stay on the thread while the job runs.
Does the floor need to sit in the room first?
Wood and laminate need to settle in the room they are going in, usually for a couple of days, so they stop moving before they are laid. Your fitter will tell you how long for your material.
Can I lay a new floor over the old one?
Sometimes, if the old floor is flat, sound and dry. More often it is cheaper in the long run to lift it. A fitter will tell you which after looking at the subfloor.
Returns and trade
Can I return what I did not use?
Yes. Shipping is not refunded, there is a 30 percent restocking fee, and you need to tell us within 2 to 3 business days that you want to return it. Once material is cut or laid it counts as accepted. The full rules are on the returns page.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes, for contractors, builders and designers. You get your own price list and a named contact. Ask on the contact page and we will set the account up.
Can you help price a job from drawings?
Send the drawings over and we will work through the quantities with you rather than leaving you to guess.
